Yet another Sydney trip (Day 1)

In a sudden (but pleasant) turn of events, I'd received AWESOME (looks at Hyeyoung) news (while I was in Sydney) that I managed to get the SRS in the end.

*BEAMS*

Some kind soul decided to reject the scholarship and I was next in line so I got his/her place instead. Talk about being lucky! I guess perhaps it is possible to have the best of both worlds... =)

...

Sydney with Hyeyoung was lovely. We met up with her long time friend, Jongyoun, whose name is extremely difficult and tricky to pronounce. Hahaha. A slight error in pronunciation would result in me calling her a bitch in Korean. We had Din Tai Feng for lunch and I think HY loves the Xiao Long Bao...

The tray of Xiao Long Bao which I think Hyeyoung finished half, leaving Jongyoun and myself sharing the other half. :(

After lunch was the usual agenda at the usual venue - hair cutting! Met up with the girls after I was done and had bubble tea.

Never knew bubble tea could make you high.

Dinner was at Miliore with 2 of Jongyoun's friends, Sam and Mitch, 2 extremely nice guys.

Had my first taste of 소주 (Soju). Given that it's just a Korean version of Japanese 焼酎 (Shochu), the taste isn't something new. But since I prefer Japanese 焼酎 over Japanese 酒 (Sake), I guess it's not surprising that I fell in love with 소주 at first sip. <3

One highlight of Miliore, free Korean-style 茶碗蒸し (Chawanmushi) called, 계란찜 (Gyeran Jjim).

Can't remember the name of this dish. Somebody help me?

If my memory serves me right, this is Korean-styled 古老肉 called 탕수육 (Tang Su Yuk). Like 古老肉, it's sweet and sour and what's even better is that it's spicy as well! 古老肉 is one of my favorite Canton dish and I think 탕수육 just supersede it.

Mitch, Sam and Jongyoun. It was so funny when Jongyoun kept asking Sam to "open his eyes" to which Sam would reply, "I'm already opening 'em!"

Half way through the dinner, Sam suddenly took out this diary saying that he needs to write something and walked away from the table. It was as though he suddenly had some kind of inspiration for a poem. Fucking funny lah can?

The night ended after 6 bottles of Soju, 6 bottles of beer and another 2 jugs of beer at a bar. Needless to say, everybody was very happy, especially HY. She was... maybe a little too happy. Hahaha... But yeah, it was a good night. It's been a looong time since I drank till I was high and getting high on Soju was definitely enjoyable. Plus with good food and good company, it was the perfect condition to get drunk.

Up next, day 2 of the trip and... MORE FOOD!
