A surprise text from NYC started this...

Woah! Had it not been Ms Tsai's reminder, I'd totally forgotten that I'd blogged in the longest of time. (I'd been fairly busy you see.) In fact, I just realized that I didn't even finish my entry about the (uber exciting) road trip I did over the winter holidays. I'd do that once I'm done with this update.

Met the director of my faculty for the first time today to discuss about my honors plan. Apparently, I might just be the first person to do honors in my program! They'd just introduced honors for my program this year. Previously, you'd have to do honors in Asian Studies instead of Security Analysis. But that's besides the point. Oh! And his brother (or was it brother-in-law?) graduated from 岡山大学 (Okayama University), but too is besides the point. The point is, he was very nice and set me up with a researcher, Dr Brendan Taylor, from ANU's Strategic and Defense Studies Centre (SDSC). I'm quite familiar with Dr Taylor (and not the other way around) because he's an expert on North Korea and he'd given a few guest lectures in one of my previous subjects. It'd be interesting to speak to him and see what he has to say about my proposed honors thesis topic.

Actually, I went to look for him earlier today but he wasn't in. That's alright since it provided me with the perfect chance to tour the new Hedley Bull Centre and have a quick lunch there. :) Anyways, I'm going to see him proper next week so I'd get another chance to go to visit what is possibly my next home for the coming year. Oh, if I do get to do honors, I might be able to take a graduate level course from SDSC. How exciting!

Meanwhile, Written Japanese D (WJD) didn't exactly turn out to be THAT difficult as I'd imagined it to be. Sure it's a tough one to nail a distinction (given the fact that I haven't been in touch with a lot of grammar and vocab) but I think I'd be able to pull through this one. After all, WJD IS what I call, "The Final Boss". Spoken Japanese 4 is moving on at a fairly slow pace thus far but judging from the deadlines, I'd have to pick up speed soon. As for Security and Strategic Studies B, I rather not talk about it. The combination of what might just be the two most boring lecturers in the School of Asian Studies is a total dread. I even can't decide which tute to go. Sigh.

Finally, word on the street is that today is Vera's farewell party. I don't exactly feel emo or anything but it just doesn't feel right. The thought that there's no way I'm going to bump into her on the streets is just lonely and makes shopping in Uluberra less exciting. "Exactly what should I look forward to next time when I hit the stores?!" Well, given that I'd probably seriously never ever going to bump into her again, I hope she's happy that she's graduating and I can only sincerely wish her all the best in whatever she so chooses to do.

Now... Time to finish my entry on da Road Trip. :) Watch out for sibeh chio photos taken by my new baby. Hahaha... Oh oh oh, I finally bought a 1TB external hard disk. (It was damn chio and cheap lah!) Punyu2Munyu Baka-Updates here I come!
