So 8 days, 3 flights and 4 cars later, I'm done with the road trip. There were a few (mis)adventures but hey, that's why it's so fun to go on a road trip isn't it? 'cos an unexpected mishap can just lead to pleasant surprises and indeed, there were a few on the trip.
The trip started on the 3rd when I took the coach to Sydney.
"Arrive at 7:30 pm, chuck my bags at some counter in the airport, take a train down to city, have a meal at Din Tai Feng at 8:30 pm, wander in the city till 11:30 pm, take the last train back to the airport and catch as much sleep as possible, wake up at 5:00 am and get ready for my flight at 6:00 am." - That WAS the plan. But life as we know, is and never will be perfect.
The first screw up was that I can't leave my bags at the counter because it doesn't open early enough for me to collect my bags for my 6:00 am flight. Great. No way am I bringing everything to the city and have a meal at Din Tai Feng with so many bags. So I decided to rent a car just for a night instead. Not only will I have all my bags with me, I wouldn't have to worry about catching the last bus nor finding a place to sleep since I can sleep in the car. So that went well. I made it to Din Tai Feng before 8:30 pm and wandered on random paths, taking some shots of the city (whilst getting used to taking night shots with the new toy). Finally, I drove back to the airport and attempted to retire for the night in the tiny car. Yes, that's right. IN the car. Not only did I had no need to top up the petrol because I only traveled 24 km, I found a warm place to spend the night! What a good deal renting a car was. The only problem, (and quite a big one it is) is that the car park's too noisy and bright to catch even a wink. Sigh, guess you can never have the best of both worlds...
The real adventure starts on the next day but before that, some photos that were taken that night.
This is exactly what I'd been dreaming about! 小龙包!
They look like they'd just jumped outta an A&F TVC. But I bet they just wanted to show off their erected Aussie nipples to tourists. It was a fucking cold and windy night can?!
For some reason, this shot just reminds of New York. If my memory serves me well, I think there's an iconic building in NYC that is similar to this. But don't put your money on it. I could be wrong.
Next up, the reunification of the ANU buddies...
