Any idiot would know that driving when you're deprived of sleep is dangerous, but I had to stubbornly push the limit and test it out. We were supposed to depart for Sydney at 4:30 am on Sunday and we did, just that I didn't have enough sleep. Mommy called at 12 am and we chatted till 1:30 am. After which, James called and I finally went to bed at 2 am. How champion of me. It was more like a power nap rather than sleep.
So I got up at 4 am to get ready and stuff, and we departed fairly promptly at 4:30 am. The good thing about driving so early in the morning was that I could speed. At certain stretches, I went as fast as 150km/h. On the other hand, the bad thing is the danger of driving in the dark. Yes you could switch to high-beam but traveling at 110-120km/h is still too fast to react to any animals on the road. By God's grace (and perhaps Piscesean intuition), I changed lane randomly and avoided hitting a full-grown Kangaroo which was standing on the original lane I was traveling.
In any case, we arrived at Sydney airport earlier than anticipated but it was of no use as Zhen's flight was delayed for 5 fucking hours.
Given the current flu pandemic, we donned our uber cool, 浦原喜助's bucket hat-inspired face masks as a prevention. Boy, did we attract a lot of attention with that.
After leaving the airport, I drove straight into the city where we are going to have breakfast and get our hair done. Breakfast was at 朱妈妈台湾小吃 in Chinatown and it was only so-so. Initially I wanted to have 蚵仔麵線 but to my dismay, they don't have it on the menu. It was only much later when Kathryn told me that the owner is no longer a Taiwanese but a "Ah Tiong" that I realized why they might not have 蚵仔麵線. Anyway, I had the beef tendon noodles (which was rather appetizing) and a bowl of warm soy milk instead.
Cutting my hair is next on my itinerary and I'd made an appointment at DJ's the night before. I wanted to change a stylist so I didn't ask for anybody in particular. So randomly, I had one of the partners to cut my hair but Brian was even luckier, he had a chio bu Japanese girl. Seriously, how is it possible that the world is fair? Pui!
Everything was "so far so good" ('cept for barely missing the Kangaroo and not getting a chio Japanese stylist) but things took a turn when Yuka texted me and said she wasn't able to meet me after all. Ultimate pang seh man! Needless to say, I was damn disappointed... So while Brian and his friend hung out, I went window shopping alone. But okay lah, I bought cupcakes for Kathryn, Cheryl and Brian from The Cupcake Bakery which was awesome!
See how pretty they are!
Fortunately, Brian and his friend were nice enough to save me from my tragedy and we went karaoke, which was fun. After karaoke, we had dinner at Ramen Kan which was something I have been dreaming about.
I had the ねぎ豚骨ラーメン (Negi Tonkotsu Ramen), Brian had カツカーレーラース (Katsu Curry Rice) while his friend had 鶏カッラゲラーメン (Chicken Karagge Ramen) and finally we shared a plate of オムラース (Omu-Rice). We were so full after the meal lah can? And it doesn't help that I had to drive on a full stomach because that made me even sleepier!
Arrived in Canberra at 11:30 pm and after distributing the cupcakes, I finally slept at about 2 am. Sibeh shack but nonetheless, 1 more satisfying trip to Sydney added to the belt! :)

Hoho so I went to Ramen Kan for dinner with my friend on Tue - the deep fried tofu thing was a bit disappointing but the Ramen was great. I'm more a Udon person but I'd never loved Ramen like I did yesterday:D
