As one who'd been educated in the media, I'm fully aware on the potentials of the mass media, in this case, the blog. I'd heard too many incidents where entries get misunderstood or in worse cases, landed the blogger in deep shit. While I'd love to explain myself on this medium, I will not. Not because of my recalcitrant attitude but simply because I don't want to get misunderstood again. All I have to say is, "I'd tell you more when I see you."
On a happier note, I was in Sydney recently. It was a short but splendid getaway from this boring capital. The trip started in the day whereby Hussy, Gil, Rus & I went to Thrifty to collect the car. You should have seen Gil's face when the countergirl told her she's getting a free upgrade to a Mitsubishi Megma (did I spelt it correctly?). She happy like bird can? Argh... That el cheapo lady. Drove to fetch Sammy before headin' up north to Sydney with the other half of the convoy, Issac's car with Diana, Paul, Marcus and Tiffany. I'd noticed that my blog's kinda dry with nothing but words so here's a group photo of us.
special thanks to Paul who scrificed to take this photo for us
After our first (and last) pit stop, Gil got us to Marketplace (thank Lord, in one piece) where I had the BEST lunch in Aussie so far. Need I mention that I was the Chief Navigator? Heh. You know, I love my lappy a lot and I won't want to risk it getting wet with my saliva so I'd just show what we had for lunch instead of talking about it.
all the yummies, from calamari to sake sashimi to oysters to lobsters
With our tummies filled, it's straight to Birkenhead Point (a.k.a., Factory Outlet) for some fast and furious shopping (that's also because we only had 1 hour before the shops closes). Needless to say, the shopping wasn't shoik at all and I only bought 2 Canterbury polos and a Mambo keychain. Sigh, didn't even buy anything from my fave FCUK. I'm so gonna take my revenge when I go back in April.
Next stop on the list is Paddy's Market. Again, no shopping was done (unless you consider me buying vitamins an act of shopping). I saw the Ray Ban aviators and I almost bought 'em. All I need is someone to assure me...
Hence, we'd accomplished the 2 key goals of our trip i.e., to eat at Marketplace and to shop at Birkenhead Point and Paddy's Market. We took a stroll down to Darling Harbour and proceeded to have desserts. (Note: For God know what reasons, I've been damn hungry all these while.) After desserts, we walked back to the vicinity of Paddy's to have korean dinner. Notice the non-sequential order of our meals? Korean meals have never been my cuppa, (contrastingly, Rus kept praising it,) but I had my load nonetheless. Still I'm not full.

Perhaps it's just my separation anxiety kicking in. (HA!) Or it could simply be because I'm still waiting for that one palatable dish to fill me up. By now, it's roughly 12+ am and it's WAY pass our departure time. A quick detour to send Marcus' friend back and we're on our way back to Canberra. Rus brought us out of Sydney and to the first pit stop while I drove the rest of the way back. If only I knew he was hallucinating, I'd had taken over earlier. Without a doubt, I got everyone back in one piece. We headed back to John's after sending Sammy and Marcus back, only to take a short breather before heading to Mount Annsley to catch Sunrise (so far, my 2nd attempt to get it in my life). That's where the fun begins.
First, we caught this Aussie couple making out in their lau-pok car. Then Hussy ran over Rus' Havianas (see the image below) while trying to position the car to take a group photo.
ouch! poor Havianas...
Lastly, Gil, Rus and I climbed onto the roof of the car to take this freaking good shot. Oh, I mustn't forget to thank the peeling tree bark that allowed my digicam to rest on it too...
the pic's not exactly what I'd termed centralised but I still love it!
The day ended with a good breakfast at Essense's (after returning the car of course).
Besides being awake for 28 hours (with my lens on mind you,) and the harvests I ripped from Birkenhead Point, I've learnt to appreciate two things - the energetic and dynamic city life (like Sydney) and the serene and tranquil life (of Canberra). Though both are on the opposite ends of the scale, somehow, the vibrant-ness of Sydney showed me how attractive the listness Canberra can be as well. Although I've never disliked Canberra in anyway, I thank God for the peace it embraces.
Even so, I STILL CAN'T WAIT TO GO SYDNEY AGAIN!
