Are humans like hedgehogs?

[Utada Hikaru 宇多田ヒカル - First Love]

As with the Hedgehog's dilemma, it has been said that human intimacy cannot occur without hurting both parties, hence producing "cautious behavior" resulting in "weak relationships".

Is that true? Do we really hurt each other while in the process of loving each other? Perhaps it's not in human nature to cause hurt but the act of love itself? Perhaps we're like weapons, waiting to fire upon our targets. And the act of love, is nothing but that mutual destruction of self-protection so that mutual love can be conducted between two parties who'd bear everything and withheld nothing.

I don't know and I don't have the energy to ponder.

All I know is that if I'm a weapon, then I've lost the ability to unleash my wrath unto any target that I desire because in the previous war, I've been damaged way too badly. If I ever attempt to fire anything, I'd annihilate myself. Then not only I'd have completely lost the ability to love but also be wiped out from the face of this planet.

Ok. Perhaps my analogy isn't the best but you get the point - I can't seem to fall in love because my heart is damaged beyond repair.

There's an opportunity tonight to test my mechanisms. Let's see how I perform.

Meanwhile, here's a MTV from a rather old Japanese drama, 魔女の条件, starring Matsushima Nanako (!!!). The drama talks about forbidden love and it's so sad that I love it! =) Emo time!
