[Blank & Jones - Cream]
It's about due time that I write an entry about my very happening winter break. Thing is, every time I attempt to embark on such a mammoth entry, I tend not to finish writing and save a draft of it, telling myself that I'd return which of course, I never did. So I shall break this long trip into 3 parts, post-exam (before I actually flew to meet my family), first leg (with my family) and second leg (spent with my UNC clique and my dear cousin) of the break.
The main problem with blogging after and not during the event is the test of my memory and I have very selective memory. But let's start the post-exam break with Lainey's arrival. I remember Elaine and Jeff arrived on the weekend before some exam. I can't remember which paper it exactly is but I woke up on Sunday to her call and subsequently went to meet them at this ulu bagel shop on Franklin which until now, I'd only been to once. We met briefly and I walked them to Morrison, showed them the dorm and we walked to student stores. I learnt much later that Elaine went crazy over Burt's Bees. The next few days was furious mugging, writing take home papers and finishing up final essays. It was a mad rush. Of course, knowing me, I cut a few corners. ;)
Then finally, the exams are over.
I rented a car the next day and drove up to Greensboro (the furthest I'd driven in NC) to pick Elaine up from Center for Creative Leadership. We wanted to have lunch at this Vietnamese place in downtown Greensboro but turns out that it was still under renovation and has yet to open its doors. So we crossed the road and had lunch at this sucky chinese place. It was cheap but it was sucky. Oh and I remember it was the day I screwed up Carly's schedule but that's too complicated to be explained here. So yes, we got onto the road after lunch and made our way to Carolina Premium Outlets. It was like a mini road-trip as we chatted about so much stuff. I missed like 2 exits and that really delayed our arrival at our outlets. There was this mega jam which didn't help at all. Nothing much to blog about the outlets 'cept for the fact that I bought like 2 Ralph shirts for like $35 each. Dinner was at Cracker Barrel which both of us think beats Mama Dips hands down. Like seriously lah. Drove back to Greensboro after dinner and visited Elaine's room at O'Henry. It was damn nice seh! My favourite part was this HUGE dressing area outside the bathroom - nice and functional. The drive back to Chapel Hill was a 'lil screwed up though. Due to the lateness (it was past midnight), I was damn tired and being unfamiliar to the area, I got lost in the maze of highways. For some reason, I just couldn't find I-40 East. Argh. After nearly an hour of "ho-lan-ing", I finally got back on track and eventually made my way back to Chapel Hill. Sped the entire way back because I'm supposed to meet Carly like 6 hours ago. Back at UNC, I caught up with a very sleepy Carly before we bid farewell to each other for the winter break.
*Takes a deep breath*
Very happening right? And that's only a part of the post-exam holidays. Let me save part 2 for another day. School beckons for now.
