[Jay Chou 周杰伦 - 牛仔很忙]
Damn! Yet another reason to Qinggie's entry that Singapore is becoming more happs.
Come November 21 to December 1, is Animation Nation 2007. Organized by the Singapore Film Society, this year's animation film festival features some of my personal favorites from Nipponland. Here are my picks for the must-sees:
TekkonKinkreet
5cm Per Second
Freedom Project
TekkonKinkreet's the only one that I'd yet to catch and the one I've been wanting to watch. Meanwhile, ask Qing and she'd tell you about the beauty of the Freedom Project. After all, the creators of Kakurenbo are behind this. As for 5cm Per Second, i hope they're showing all 3 installments of it. It's a Makoto Shinkai production (read: Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised In Our Early Days) so you can't go wrong with him.
The last Animation Nation I attended was before I left for Aussieland and I was lucky enough to meet the 3 of the production stuff behind Kakurenbo. We had lunch and I got them to sign a mini-poster (and now I can't remember if it's with me or did I give it to Aramia). What I'm trying to say was, Animation Nation's great fun so if you have the time, you really should consider going. (I'm seriously not paid to do this.) One thing I wish was that DVD copies of the major films would be available for purchase after each screening. That way I don't have to resort to erm... leeching.
