[Cheer Chen 陈绮贞 - 嫉妒]
Besides missing local food, I just realised that I miss listening to Chinese songs and being here, I have zero access to the latest hits in Singapore. Don't even talk about Canto hits. Of course, there's the idea of doing a little bit of research at 93.3FM's website but that would take up too much time. Moreover, the charts don't really fluctuate much so it's not exactly the best representation of whatever that's popular amongst the crowd. Even so, my Canto songs how? Sigh. This is the time when I would be sulking over the lack of Asian company here. That's why, I seriously need to get my ass to some Chinatown soon! But before that, I was surfing around New York Times' Travel Guide and I found some pretty good places to go. That should keep me occupied for now...
But beyond that, I had been thinking really hard where I wanted to go during the interim between their departure and the first day of school. I listed a few possibilities:
- to stay in New York and absorb the aura of a busy, metropolitan city
- to fly to London and visit Gillian
- to fly to Mexico whist I'd the opportunity being in US and see what's there
- to fly to Alaska to see the Northern Lights
So far, the idea of witnessing the Northern Lights seems to appeal to me the most. After surfing around for more information, I found out that not only I could witness the beautiful phenomenon but also make a trip to the Arctic Circle while I'm there. How cool is that?! The only thing is, due to the harsh climate during that period whereby the average highest temperature is only -2°F (-19 °C), I need some serious thermal wear. It'd suck if I had to buy them cause it's going to be eons till I get to wear them again. So logistically, that's the main problem. Lucky for me, my suite-mate, Dave, stayed in Alaska for a period of time and so he's going to check out some of the details for me.
