The day I broke my anti-instant-noodle record.

So after keeping off instant noodles for more than a year, I finally broke the restriction and had my first packet earlier this evening. All thanks to Haewon. Perhaps it's my recent craze about all things Korean that made me cave in to his suggestion.

"You MUST try this," he said. "It's very Korean ramen."

I can't remember if I told him about my unbeaten record thus far but I knew I didn't put up a fight to resist it. I should have.

In less than 30 minutes, we were slurping Teumsae Ramen at my place. At first glance, it looks like Shin Ramen. Actually, it even smells like Shin Ramen. The first mouthful I had was actually not bad. That's only because I hadn't drink the soup yet. The soup, omg, was so damn spicy! According to Haewon, apparently this is even spicier than Shin Ramen. But I must say, once your tongue is numb and you get over the spicy-ness, there's actually a very nice taste to it. I won't go into the scientific details of how different parts of your tongue taste the different flavors but ya, there's a nice flavor to the soup. The noodles were okay but the soup left me craving for more. So despite perspiring like today's weather (it was pouring outside earlier), I finished my soup.

Needless to say, my stomach started to act up and churned weirdly. I haven't been to the toilet just yet so I'm guess my stomach can still take the spice.

For those who love spicy ramen, definitely go grab a packet of Teumsae Ramen. Cook with some other ingredients and you'd definitely love it. Or if you're in Korea (in winter), pop by any one of their outlets. I can only imagine it to be piping hot and fucking spicy. Meanwhile, I blame Haewon for breaking my record.
