If you were chilly...

[Ingrid Michaelson - The Way I am]

I'd seen the ad a couple of million times and every single time I'd tell myself, "go find out what's the title of that song".

Yesterday, I finally did. If you too like the song, well it's by Ingrid Michaelson, titled, "The Way I Am". And if you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy (just as I am), then this indie pop singer from New York should be no stranger to you as a couple of her songs have been featured in the emo scenes of the show.

Today, we had been blessed with rain, lots of rain. The first drops came around 9am when Robert and I were about to leave the suite to go for breakie. The rain paused for a while when I went for classes at 3pm (thank God for that!) and started again when I was taking my nap. Even now, it's still pouring outside. North Carolina has been in a pinch for the past few months when water levels stood at some 50% of the capacity. As such, the state has issue tight water controls to fight this drought. So I'm really thankful that the rain finally came. Having raised in Singapore where and despite us having no natural resource for water, thanks to economic, political and perhaps even military efforts, we always had constant water supply and the only thing we ever had to worry about was not the levels of our reservoirs but the bills we pay. Here it's different. You actually feel the effect of water shortage. The numerous signs over campus and the media asking residents to not just adhere to the state laws to curb water wastage, but also ways of saving water hits you at almost every corner you turn. Of course, I was well-versed with the water saving skills. After all, our rationing exercises and lessons both at home and school taught me the importance of water well. For the betterment of the residents in North Carolina, I hope and pray that this drought will soon be over.
