Cruising on the other side of the road

[Joan Osborne - What Becomes Of A Broken Hearted]

"What becomes of the broken hearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
Maybe."

This song has been in my mind ever since I walked out of that Bose store at Carolina Premium Outlets yesterday. I awed not just at the marvel of Bose's home theater system but how Joan Osborne delivered the cover of Jimmy Rufin's one hit single. She was good man.

The whole of yesterday's afternoon was spent shopping at Carolina Premium Outlets. Mark was super nice to lend us his baby:

As Robert couldn't drive a stick, I'd had to do it. I was a 'lil worried at first because not only I'd to drive on the other side of the road, I'd to also drive it well enough to cruise on a freeway, which I'd imagined to be the toughest part. But I did it! I drove all the way from UNC to Smithfield then back again.

On our way there, we stopped by at Waffle House for breakfast. The decor looked pretty much like Billy Bombers less the jukeboxes and the food was simply average. The breakfast was nonetheless satisfying though, especially it's been a while since I had a proper breakfast with coffee.

One wrong turn and about 20 minutes later, we arrived at our destination and spent the following 4 hours shopping there. I bought 4 polos, 2 tees, 2 hoodies, 2, track pants, 2 shorts, 1 card/coin holder, 1 kettle and 1 cup/coffee plunger. And yes, I'm officially broke! Guess it's going to be microwavable pre-packed food and 面包 for the next few days or so.

We got back to campus at around 6 and there was this jam (due to the opening football game) that crawled uphill to Morrison. The car stalled twice and my left knee was hurting after it. We (UNC) did won the game and there were (literally) fireworks. Now I know where my fees go to. Dinner was at Brixx. I must say they have pretty good pizzas - thin wood-fired crust and fresh ingredients. And it's cheap! After dinner, we bought beer and the boys were damn happy because I bought like 10 freaking cases for them (got sale lah and they're not old enough to buy). The law here is really damn strict. Come on, the boys are like above 18 and yet they can't buy alcohol. So an old uncle like me has to buy for them because I'm above 21. Then we had to smuggle the alcohol back to the dorm in our luggage. So much trouble just to drink some beer. Not like it's coke or e what. Sigh.

Well, I hope the 10 cases can last them at least 3 weeks.
